Duke of Edinburgh's Award Programme

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award (DofE) programme is the world's leading youth achievement award following the motto "There is more in you than you think".
Young people in over 130 countries participate in the award and its reputation with higher education establishments and employers is unique. The award aims at supporting young people's personal development and encourages them to design their own programme of activities, set personal goals and challenge themselves to achieve their aims. It is voluntary, non-competitive, enjoyable, rewarding and requires sustained effort over time.
The Phorms Secondary School Munich Campus is launching the DofE Award Programme this school year 2020/21 for the first time and 25 Phorms students in Year 10 will be signing up for the Silver Award. Within this award there are four sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills and Expedition. Participants will set their own goals for each section of the award. They are required to dedicate an hour a week for each activity over a period of 6 or 12 months. Their progress is monitored by their assessor and logged online weekly. Participants also plan, train for and undertake a three-day (two nights) expedition. They will be responsible for planning, navigating, setting up camp and cooking for themselves developing not only resilience and team building skills but creating memories for life.
This is an exciting new venture for our students and we wish them luck in their journey towards the Silver Award.
