Our Educational Approach
Shaped By Diversity

Bilingual learning is just one part of the rich educational journey we offer in our primary school. With our dedication to a holistic and well-rounded educational approach, the use of diverse teaching methods, and a passion for nurturing each child, we develop key skills, knowledge, creativity, and social confidence. In a community that celebrates individuality and teamwork, our students discover many inspiring paths to grow, explore, and learn with joy.

Bilingualism
More than Just Language Skills

Children who learn in two languages gain far more than linguistic skills: they develop creativity, flexibility, and a finely tuned sense of language. Strengths that carry across all areas of learning.

Our teachers bring German and English to life with enthusiasm, using gestures, facial expressions, and visual aids to ensure every child understands and participates with joy.

If your child needs extra support in either language, we offer an individualised programme tailored to their needs.

Individual Support
Space for Every Talent

At our school, every childs unique talents and needs are valued. With two teachers per class, we create space for teamwork, creativity, and new ways of learning – helping children discover and develop their strengths.

We also offer an extension programme and academic support in maths, German, and English. Through small learning groups, we provide individual support in reading, writing, and arithmetic, helping every child to reach their full potential.

Team and Project Work
Discovering by Doing

At Phorms, learning with head, heart, and hands is at the centre. Our students dive into exciting, experiential projects: they attend theatre performances, interview experts, build models, and deliver lively presentations. Along the way, they not only develop creative solutions but also learn to present their ideas confidently in a team.

Project-based learning strengthens not only team spirit but also essential metacognitive skills. Children learn to take responsibility, support one another, and benefit from each other’s strengths, whether in group work, on the sports field, or in other activities. In this way, we nurture not only academic but also social and emotional growth for every student.

STEM
Explosive and Exponential

Across all year levels, our students take part in STEM activities that are enriched by practical experiences within the core subjects. They participate in national competitions such as Biber Informatik, Känguru, PANGEA, and HEUREKA and enjoy excursions that bring classroom learning to life: Year 1 explores hieroglyphs, Year 2 investigates natural phenomena at the ecological education centre, and Year 4 visits the FabLab.

All students take part in the global Hour of Code and selectively use iPads to support their learning. As part of the “Crafts & Design” lessons they create projects such as clocks and lamps, while Dash robots help to strengthen teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Our STEM programme is continually evolving to inspire and engage learners at every stage.

Media Education
Skills for the Future

Our classrooms are equipped with interactive SmartDisplays, offering multimedia functionality to enrich classroom learning. Each child has their own iPad, and laptops are also used judiciously where they further pedagogical aims.

Step by step, students are guided into the digital world: they research, write, solve problems, and create presentations – all while learning to use digital media safely and independently in a protected environment. Experimentation and engagement remain at the forefront, as children explore the positive potentials of technology and strengthen their digital literacy.

Creativity
Where Creativity Comes Alive

Visual and performing arts and music are at the heart of our school community. Many students find joy in singing with the primary school choir and regularly share their musical talents in concerts. With its performances, our music department creates memorable moments that enrich school life – and resonate far beyond the classroom.

Along with art lessons, students build artistic skills across the entire curriculum with creative projects in all subjects. When it comes to German craft tradition, a special class “Werken & Gestalten” allows children to try out new tools and old traditions such as woodcarving and felting.

Cambridge International Primary Program
English as a Gateway to the World

The Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP) provides the foundation for equipping our students with the English language skills they need to move confidently and self-assuredly in our global world.

For English lessons, we selectively draw on elements of the CIPP and adapt them to the individual needs of our students. To support this, we have developed our own English concept along with a dedicated handbook to guide our teaching.
