Upon arrival, students were asked to remove their shoes before entering the lower prayer room. The students were amazed by the large amount of shoe shelves in the entrance. Students and teachers were warmly greeted by a staff member of the Islamic Cultural Center. He told students about the history of Muslims in the Munich area and the Mosque.
We also learned that the mosque opened in 1973 and sometimes up to 500 people attend prayer services. Students were given an opportunity to ask questions. At the end, students were taken to the main prayer room. We learned that the men and women pray separately. Men pray in the lower level and the women pray in the upper level. Students learned a lot about the Muslim culture and religion!
