Everyday life at PhorMinis Kindergarten
A Colourful World in Two Languages

In Kindergarten your child will be nurtured and supported with warmth and expertise – every single day. We make sure early learners feel safe and welcome, and we help them grow through meaningful activities and familiar routines in both German and English. We believe in partnership with parents. We will keep you updated about your child’s progress – openly and in a spirit of mutual respect. We are honoured to be a part of your team as you give your child the confidence and support they need to flourish during their kindergarten years.

A Typical Day in Kindergarten

Drop-of

A calm start to the day: arriving in peace, greeting friends and settling into group routine.

Breakfast

In the crèche, children enjoy breakfast together with their educators.
In kindergarten and preschool, an open breakfast is available for anyone who would like to join.

This way, everyone starts the day nourished and full of energy.

Morning Circle

Children gather with their educators, share how they are doing, and find out what the day has in store for them.

Educational Activities and Free Play

The morning begins with an educational activity that is theme-related and specifically supports one developmental area. Before lunch, children have time for free play and to let off steam, preferably outside in the spacious garden.

Lunch

Time for a tasty and healthy meal, freshly prepared on site by our catering partner Organic Garden. Crèche children eat in their familiar surroundings, while early learners in kindergarten and preschool have their lunch in a dedicated lunch hall in the light-filled lower level.

Quiet Time and Free Play

After lunch the pace slows down: in the crèche it is nap time. Kindergarten and preschool children spend this part of the day in a relaxed atmosphere with quiet play, listening to stories or enjoying audio books together. For older children, this is followed by another educational activity.

Afternoon Snack

A healthy snack is served in the afternoon. On their birthdays, children are welcome to bring a special treat to share with their friends at snack time.

Pick-up and Late Group

As the afternoon continues, children are gradually picked up. Those staying beyond 3.30 pm are looked after in combined groups. Crèche children have their own late group, tailored to their needs. The afternoon hours are a great time for more outdoor play and fresh air.

Facilities

Our Building

Our crèche and kindergarten are located in a beautiful historic villa next door to the Phorms Primary & Secondary campus in Alt-Bogenhausen. With its unique architecture – both inside and out – it has a charming, fairytale atmosphere. Thanks to its central location alongside the English Garden, PhorMinis Munich is easy to reach via public transport, bike, or car.

Spacious Garden

The large outdoor area surrounding our building gives early learners plenty of space to play, explore, and run around. Crèche children enjoy their own protected play area. The garden offers shady spots on warm days, and plenty of fun gear in the storage areas to share. In addition, the nearby Bürgermeister Park and English Garden are regular destinations for excursions, offering wonderful opportunities for fresh air and nature adventure.

Group Rooms

The group rooms are lovingly furnished and offer a stimulating environment with a variety of play areas, cosy corners, and a wide range of materials for learning, playing and crafting.

Preschool Rooms

Each of our preschool groups has an interactive smart display, used judiciously for educational activities.

Children's Kitchen and Tumbling Room

In our children's kitchen, early learners have the opportunity to try their hand at cooking and baking. With holidays from many cultures to celebrate, we cook and bake together regularly.

Movement is a must in our daily routine: there is a spacious tumbling room in the lower level used for a variety of physical activities. It also hosts sports lessons taught by teachers from our primary school.

Music and Movement

Music plays an important role in early education. Each week, a music teacher visits PhorMinis to lead engaging musical activities for all age groups in addition to the daily clapping, hopping, and songs found in our regular routines. We introduce children to the world of music in ways suited to their age – whether through singing together, trying out instruments, or rhythmic movement.

Educators encourage children's natural delight in movement through a variety of daily activities. In addition, sports teachers from the primary school offer weekly lessons to kindergarten and preschool children. These sessions help children to develop their motor skills and support their overall growth and well-being.

Library

Our kindergarten has a well-stocked library, which educators use in many ways – for story time, to support language development, or to enrich themed learning activities.

Balanced Nutrition

Freshly Prepared with Love

With dedication and creativity, the team from Organic Garden provides crèche and kindergarten with a varied and healthy menu every day. Meals are freshly prepared next door in the Phorms Campus’ kitchen. In addition to lunch, children also receive breakfast and an afternoon snack, freshly and lovingly prepared by our housekeeper.

Sharing meals with their educators encourages social interaction and creates a cheerful, family-like atmosphere at the table where good manners and courageous eating are gently encouraged.

Most allergies, intolerances, and religious dietary requirements can be accommodated.

Parental Engagement

Parents play a vital role in their children’s development right from the start. That is why close and trusting collaboration with families is particularly important to us. We give parents regular insight into our educational work so they can actively accompany and support their children’s learning at home.

Through informal chats at drop-off and pick-up as well as during scheduled parent–teacher conferences, we discuss each child’s progress individually and offer suggestions for targeted support.

The Parents’ Council represents the interests of families and is an active part of the Phorms community. In close cooperation with the kindergarten leadership, the Council contributes constructively to the further development of the kindergarten. The leadership team meets monthly with elected parents’ representatives, which acts as a link between families and faculty, accompanies educational processes and helps to organise celebrations and events.
