Medieval City Tour

Date:
Year 2 went on a medieval city tour. We found out Munich is 850 years old and we found out about the old mill (that still exists behind the Hofbräuhaus). We also saw parts of the old medieval wall around Isartor. Behind Isartor we experienced the foundations of a turret and a canon slit window on the outside wall of a building.

We learned that the Bavarian word for “ears” is “Ohrwaschln” and found medieval buildings that have “Ohrwaschln” at Platzl. To warm up we went into the big church at Vikualienmarkt and looked at the impressive ceiling painting including a pretzel. After hearing the story behind the pretzel in the painting we all got Salzbrezl. All the children enjoyed the day.
